Cameron Mitchell has been working in the entertainment industry for over 30 years. Starting his career in musical theatre, he soon became one of Australia’s most sought-after choreographers.
He choreographed for the Logie and Aria award winning children’s group Hi -5, and worked with Caroline O’Connor on her shows From Stage to Screen and The Showgirl Within. His work featured regularly in So You Think You Can Dance, as well as over three seasons of Dancing with The Stars. He also choreographed sequences on the feature film Peter Rabbit 2.
Musical Theatre credits include Heathers the musical, High Society, The Fantasticks, Mack & Mabel, Big Fish, Brigadoon, The Rover, The View Upstairs, Calamity Jane, High Fidelity, Gypsy, Cry-Baby, Spamalot, Urinetown the Musical, and Friends the Musical Parody.
Cameron made his directorial debut in 2019 for the critically acclaimed Australian premiere of Catch Me If You Can. Following this, he directed the QPAC season of Singing in The Rain, To Barbra with Love for the MSO, and Menopause the Musical. For his directing work on Nice Work If You Can Get It, Cameron won Best Director & Best Choreographer of a Musical at the Sydney Theatre Awards.
Most recently, Cameron wrapped a hugely successful season of the Australian premiere of Titanique as Associate Director and Choreographer, and as Choreographer for Queensland Theatre’s Calamity Jane.
